NON PROFIT PROJECTS

L.E.N. works hand-in-hand with Bay Area nonprofit agencies by volunteering to perform clerical projects on the school premises at no charge. These projects offer students real work experience in data entry, database creation and update, word processing, record checking and editing. This forum allows students to practice their clerical skills while performing a valuable community service. They have an opportunity to learn about community agencies and to form connections with these agencies.

The non-profit project for this month was for a non-profit company called Center for Resource Solutions The project was basically a data entry procedure, but there was a lot of interpreting of which info went where on the spreadsheet. We had to do naming, tracking, attestations, and other files to upload the information they provided to us. Myo and I supervised the students and guided them through any questions or problems that occurred. There was also a lot of files that had to be electronically moved around and organized. It was very interesting and a good challenge and experience. Now that all the information was imported, it will be very exciting to see how we all did. Thanks, Tom for giving me an opportunity and the experience of supervising other students. Also, I would like to give thanks to all the students who helped in this project: Tatyana Albery, Xu Chen, Damienna Colon, Liudmilla Esperon, Mey Saechao-Nguyen, and Myo Han Htay.
